Caregiver of the Month – October 2026: Maricruz A.

At HomeChoice Home Care Solutions, our caregivers bring their own experiences, talents, and personalities to the work they do, but they share one important quality: a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. This month, we are proud to recognize Maricruz A. as our October 2026 Caregiver of the Month!

With an impressive 18 years of caregiving experience, Maricruz has devoted much of her career to what she beautifully describes as “taking care of and protecting life.” Her experience, compassion, and deep respect for the people she serves are evident in the way she approaches caregiving each day.

18 Years of Caring for Others

For Maricruz, caregiving is much more than a profession. She sees caring for another person as meaningful work because of the value of every human life.

When asked what inspired her to enter the caregiving field, Maricruz shared:

“I believe that those who dedicate their lives to protecting, caring for and preserving human life deserve especially worthy recognition, because their work touches on what is priceless: life itself.”

Those words capture the heart behind the senior care services we provide at HomeChoice. Families invite our caregivers into their homes and entrust them with someone they love. Maricruz understands the importance of that responsibility and brings nearly two decades of experience to the clients she serves.

Sometimes the Most Important Thing Is to Listen

When we asked Maricruz to name her favorite activity to do with a client, she gave us a wonderfully simple answer:

“Listen to them!”

In caregiving, listening can be incredibly powerful. It means taking the time to hear someone’s stories, understand their preferences, learn what’s important to them, and simply give them the gift of your attention.

That connection is an important part of companion care and personalized home care assistance. Great care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It begins with knowing the person and understanding how they want to live their day.

For older adults receiving in-home care for seniors, having someone who genuinely listens can also provide meaningful companionship and help them continue to feel connected, respected, and valued.

Finding a Place to Be Herself

Maricruz says one of the things she appreciates most about working with HomeChoice is that she feels comfortable being herself while also feeling part of something bigger.

She shared that HomeChoice allows her “to be myself and feel part of a great and important company.”

We love that sentiment because our caregivers aren’t interchangeable. Each person brings something unique into a client’s home: their personality, life experience, talents, compassion, and perspective.

Our role is to support those caregivers so they can provide the kind of dependable, individualized elderly care services our clients and their families deserve.

Big Dreams for the Future

After 18 years in caregiving, Maricruz isn’t finished learning or growing. In fact, she has some exciting goals ahead.

She hopes to earn her Registered Nurse (RN) license, work in a hospital, and eventually become a nursing school teacher in the United States. It’s a wonderful progression for someone who has already dedicated so many years to caring for others: continuing her own education and then using her knowledge and experience to help prepare the next generation of nurses.

But Maricruz has a personal goal on her list, too: saving for a family trip to Italy!

Outside of work, spending time with family and friends is what she enjoys most, so it seems only fitting that one of her dreams involves creating new memories with the people she loves.

A Family That Reaches Goals Together

Perhaps one of the most meaningful things Maricruz shared with us was how important her family is to everything she accomplishes.

“I never reach my goals alone. My family always does it with me. We strive together.”

That sense of togetherness says a lot about Maricruz. She understands the value of having people beside you; encouraging you, supporting you, and working toward something together.

It’s a philosophy that translates beautifully to caregiving, where the best outcomes often come from caregivers, clients, families, nurses, and office staff working together toward the same goal: helping someone live as safely, comfortably, and independently as possible.

Congratulations, Maricruz!

Eighteen years of caregiving represents thousands of hours spent helping, listening, encouraging, protecting, and simply being there for another person.

Maricruz, we are grateful that you have chosen to bring that experience and heart to HomeChoice Home Care Solutions. Your respect for human life, your willingness to listen, and your desire to continue learning and growing reflect so much of what we value in our caregivers.

We look forward to cheering you on as you pursue your dreams of becoming an RN and, someday, teaching future nurses. And we hope that trip to Italy makes it onto the calendar, too!

Congratulations, Maricruz A., our October 2026 Caregiver of the Month!
