Congratulations to Shayla M., our Caregiver of the Month for November!
Shayla was chosen for this honor because she shows patience, a “Can Do” attitude, and is always caring and compassionate. Shayla displays all of our values, but especially our values of “doing the right thing”, and being caring and compassionate. She will often sit with her clients on difficult days and listen to their stories or as they talk about their favorite things. Shayla is flexible and notices if her clients need additional care, time, or attention. She makes it a point to make sure her clients feel heard, included, and involved in their care while ensuring their safety.
Shayla has been with HomeChoice Home Care Solutions over 2 years and has been a CNA for over 2 years. She entered the caregiving field because caring for people is in her family tree! Shayla’s mother and grandmother are both nurses. She loved watching them progress from being CNAs to where they are now. When asked what she loves about being part of the HomeChoice Home Care Solutions team, Shayla said, “I enjoy being part of the HomeChoice team because it allows me to grow, learn and use my skills to make a difference. Even though the job we do is challenging it is also rewarding and I appreciate the opportunity of being a part of the team.” She loves caring for her clients, but she especially loves looking through their memory books, listening to their life stories and listening to musicals with them.
Shayla is the oldest of 4. She has a 7 month old nephew and a 2 year old dog named Simba. When she is not working, Shayla likes to crochet and make all natural skincare and hair care products. Shayla plans to get her degree in Sonography and eventually have a big family.
