This past weekend, our HomeChoice Home Care Solutions team, along with our friends and family, came together at Dorothea Dix Park for Moving Day NC Triangle, the Parkinson’s Foundation’s signature fundraising walk. It was a beautiful day to celebrate movement, raise awareness, and honor the individuals and families courageously navigating Parkinson’s disease every day.
As one of only three home care agencies in the Triangle designated as a Parkinson’s Foundation Community Partner, we were proud to host a table at the event, share helpful resources, and connect with the Parkinson’s community. This special partnership means our team receives ongoing education and training focused on supporting people living with Parkinson’s disease. Our caregivers learn the nuances of Parkinson’s, from mobility and medication timing to exercises and communication strategies, ensuring we can enhance independence and quality of life through our Senior Care Services.
Throughout the event, we were inspired by new advancements and supports available to individuals with Parkinson’s disease. We learned about innovative technologies and medication delivery systems that could truly be game-changing, along with evidence-based exercise programs like boxing and the incredible work of speech therapists who specialize in PD care. Every interaction reminded us of the strength and resilience of this community.
One of the highlights of the day was cheering on participants during the Champion’s Walk, honoring those living with Parkinson’s. We then joined hundreds of walkers in a loop around Dix Park, walking in unity, hope, and support.
To every person and partner we met: thank you for sharing your stories, determination, and spirit with us. And a heartfelt thank you to our amazing HomeChoice team who showed up on a beautiful Saturday to support a cause so close to our hearts.
