Last week, we hosted a transformative Nutrition In-Service exclusively for our dedicated caregivers, led by our RN Supervisor, Sharon, and our Client Care Coordinator, Sarah. The session was designed to equip our caregiving team with practical nutrition knowledge to support their clients’ well-being and promote their own healthy habits.
The in-service covered essential topics, including portion control, smart grocery shopping, and interpreting food labels. Sharon and Sarah provided actionable tips for caregivers to encourage balanced meals for their clients, such as incorporating non-starchy vegetables and choosing low-fat dairy options. They also shared insights on making informed decisions while selecting pantry staples and preparing meals.
Sharon demonstrated healthier cooking techniques like steaming, roasting, and stir-frying, which retain nutrients while minimizing unhealthy fats and sodium. Sarah shared her passion for using natural seasonings, such as herbs and citrus, to enhance flavors without relying on salt or processed ingredients.
Our caregivers also received handy resources, including guides on sugar substitutes, navigating the grocery store, and food label literacy, to support their ongoing efforts to provide nourishing meals.
The interactive Q&A session was a highlight of the day, with caregivers sharing real-world challenges they face in meal preparation and receiving personalized advice from Sharon and Sarah. The collaborative atmosphere fostered valuable discussions and inspired our team to implement these strategies both at work and in their personal lives.
Thank you to our incredible caregivers who attended this session. Your commitment to providing exceptional care is what sets us apart. Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn and grow together!
